RannaBite ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal
information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use our mobile application ("the
app"), how we use it, and what choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
a. Account Information
When you register or log in to RannaBite using Firebase Authentication (supporting Email/Password and Google
Sign-In), we collect certain basic account information:
- Email address: Primarily for authentication and communication.
- Firebase User ID (UID): A unique, anonymous identifier generated by Firebase for your
account. This UID is used as the primary key to link and manage your personalized data within the app.
- Your display name and profile picture: If you choose to sign in using Google, these are
provided by Google and are associated with your Firebase account.
This data is used strictly for authentication, managing your access to the app, and linking your personalized
data (such as recipe credits and unlocked content) to your unique user account.
b. Virtual Currency ("Recipe Credits")
RannaBite utilizes a virtual currency system called recipe credits. These credits are
non-transferable, non-refundable units that can be acquired through in-app purchases and used to unlock
premium recipe content within the app. It's important to understand that recipe credits:
- Are not real currency, legal tender, or any form of stored value.
- Cannot be converted into real money, exchanged for real goods/services outside the app, or transferred
to other users.
- Are tied exclusively to your unique Firebase user account (UID) and are managed solely within the
RannaBite app.
- Your current credit balance and transaction history (purchases, consumption) are stored securely in our
Firebase Firestore database.
We track the number of credits purchased, spent, and remaining for your account solely for the purpose of
enabling and managing access to premium content. We do not track how you use any unlocked content beyond access
control.
c. Premium Recipe Access Data
When you use recipe credits to unlock a premium recipe, the unique identifier (ID) of that unlocked recipe
is securely associated with your Firebase user account (UID) and stored in our Firebase Firestore database.
This allows you to access your unlocked premium recipes across multiple devices as long as you are logged in
with the same account.
d. Payment Information
In-app purchases (e.g., buying recipe credits) are processed securely through third-party payment platforms,
specifically Google Play Billing. We do not collect, access, store, or process any of your
sensitive
payment card details or personal billing information. Your payment data is handled solely by Google Play,
subject to their respective privacy policies.
e. Usage & Analytics Data
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized and aggregated usage statistics to understand how our app is
used and to improve your experience. This data may include:
- Screens viewed and navigation paths
- Feature usage (e.g., recipe unlocks, button taps)
- App session durations and frequency
- Device type and operating system information (non-identifiable)
This data is anonymized and helps us identify trends, fix issues, and make the app better. No personally
identifiable data (like your name or email) is used in analytics reporting. You may be able to opt-out of
certain analytics tracking through your device settings.
f. Crash & Error Reports
To ensure app stability and performance, we use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically detect and analyze app
crashes and errors. Crash reports may include:
- Device information (e.g., model, OS version, app version)
- Crash logs and diagnostic data (e.g., stack traces) leading to the crash
These reports are used solely for debugging purposes, to identify and fix bugs, and to improve app stability.
They do not include names, email addresses, or any personal content.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect for the following essential purposes:
- To authenticate and identify users, providing secure access to the app.
- To manage and track your virtual currency (recipe credits).
- To enable access to and sync your unlocked premium recipes across your devices.
- To provide personalized features and content within the app.
- To provide customer support and resolve technical issues you may encounter.
- To analyze app usage trends, fix bugs, and continuously improve app features and performance.
- To process account and data deletion requests.
We do not sell, rent, or knowingly share your personal data with advertisers or unrelated third parties for
their marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
All data is securely stored in Firebase services (Firestore and Authentication). We use Firebase's built-in
security and encryption mechanisms to protect your data. Your personalized data is linked to your Firebase
UID and cannot be accessed by other users.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following trusted third-party services to provide the full functionality of RannaBite:
- Google Firebase: Including Firebase Authentication (for user login), Firebase Firestore
(for data storage), Firebase Analytics (for usage statistics), and Firebase Crashlytics (for crash
reporting).
- Google Play Billing: For secure processing of all in-app purchases.
- Google Sign-In: For facilitating user login via Google accounts, which may involve
collecting your name, email, and profile image as part of the authentication process.
These services may collect and process data as required to perform their functions, and their handling of your
data is governed by their own respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your account-related data (email, Firebase UID, credit balance, unlocked recipe IDs) for as long
as your account is active.
Account and Data Deletion Request:
You have the option to request the deletion of your account and all associated user data directly within the
app's settings.
- Upon receiving your request, your account data (including your email, Firebase UID, credit balance, and
all unlocked premium recipes) will be marked for deletion from our systems.
- Important: This deletion process is handled manually by our team to ensure proper
verification and
may take several days to complete.
- Once your account and data are deleted, this action is irreversible, and all associated personal
and
app-related data (including any purchased credits or unlocked recipes) will be permanently removed
and
cannot be recovered.
Anonymized crash and analytics data are retained according to Firebase's default retention settings.
6. User Control & Your Rights
You have the right to control your personal data. This includes:
- Discontinuing Data Collection: The primary way to stop ongoing collection of data by
the app is to
cease using the RannaBite application and/or uninstall it from your device.
- Requesting Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account and all associated
personal data
(as detailed in Section 5, 'Account and Data Deletion Request').
- Accessing and Correcting Data: You can request to access the personal information we
hold about you
or request corrections to any inaccurate data.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the support email listed in the app store listing or
within the app's 'About' section.
Please note: While we are committed to fulfilling your requests promptly, the execution of
these rights may
be subject to reasonable delays due to technical issues, system maintenance, or other unforeseen circumstances.
We appreciate your understanding in such events and assure you that your request will be processed as soon as
reasonably practicable.
7. Children's Privacy
RannaBite is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information
from minors. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal
requirements. Any updates will be posted in-app or
on this page. Your continued use of the app after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your
acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
